Second Saturday Shout-out: Paul Rudd

This month we are shouting out actor Paul Rudd for giving support to a bullied student who only received two yearbook signatures.

Brody Ridder, who attends a school in Colorado, was said to be bullied and alienated by kids at his school. When he got his yearbook and received only a handful of signatures, he wrote “Hope you make some more friends” on a blank page of his own book.

After his mother posted about this on Facebook and it went viral, Paul Rudd reached out to the family and facetimed Brody. Rudd plays the superhero Ant-Man, who just so happens to be Brody’s favorite superhero!

Paul Rudd struck up conversation with the 12 year old boy through text along with his Facetime call. He then sent Brody a letter and a signed Ant-Man helmet. He told him “things get better” and encouraged him to stay strong through the tough times.

Brody’s mother, Cassandra said that Rudd was an “amazing human being” and that her son was “ecstatic” due to the interaction.

The publicity from the Facebook post and Rudd’s support caused many of the older students in the school to also lend their support. According to the Washington Post, a group of the older students went to Brody’s class and all signed his yearbook and wrote positive messages.

No one likes a bully. So we at Citriclean applaud Paul Rudd for using his influence to do good and cheer up someone who really needed it. We hope that this inspires everyone reading to ensure that no one in your life is being left out, teased, or bullied, and if they are, to lend them support and a helping hand.
